Study of High Arctic soil ecology in the context of climate change

Canadian High Arctic Research Station (CHARS) – 2018

T² Environnement contributed to the advancement of CHARS’ knowledge in Cambridge Bay on Victoria Island in the Canadian High Arctic. The project objective is to describe and classifies soils in ecosystems of the CHARS Experimental and Reference Area and Intensive Monitoring Area (IMA) and collects soil samples from different tundra ecosystems at different depths of the active soil layer. The project also studies the microbiome of Arctic soils in collaboration with Charles Greer’s research team at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC).

Recommendations were also made to the CHARS surveillance science team to facilitate the study of Arctic soils and to study the evolution of soil ecology in the context of climate change.
