Impact study for the production increase of the Bachelor mine in Desmaraisville

Woods – 2017-2018

The Bachelor mine located in Desmaraisville mines ore to recover gold. The infrastructure to operate an underground mine, to extract gold and to store tailings is already in place.

In order to increase their production, Metanor Resources, the mine operators, commissioned Woods to produce an environmental impact study to identify the impacts and assess their importance for the mine expansion project. The characterization of wetlands and terrestrial environments was entrusted to T² Environnement.

In this mandate, T² Environnement described the components of the biological environment by analyzing existing studies, traditional knowledge surveys, inventory data from previous impact studies and all other relevant data sources. Field validations were also carried out. T² Environnement also assessed the project’s impacts on the various components of fauna, flora, wetlands and terrestrial environments in order to minimize the project’s impact on the environment.
