Mineral exploration work is planned in a large study area surrounding Lake Albert located in Cree territory (Eeyou Istchee). Sayona has little information on the nature and sensitivity of the components of the physical, biological and human environments of this sector, and would therefore like to deepen its knowledge of the environmental and social issues of this territory.
T2 was mandated to carry out a study which will identify and document the components of the environment affecting the Lake Albert study area. A literature review and mapping of the components of the physical, biological and human environments made it possible to identify development constraints and opportunities as well as potential regulatory issues and triggers. A reconnaissance visit to the study area carried out in 2022 also made it possible to describe the main ecosystems present.
