Hydro-Québec (HQ) – 2018-2020
Hydro-Québec wishes to develop partnerships with various municipalities in Québec to set up test benches for the replacement of ash trees located in distribution rights-of-way. This partnership aims to enable cities to maintain medium and large trees around rights-of-way while testing treatments to reduce trimming effort. This approach will reduce pressure on trees and generate savings for Hydro-Québec.
T² Environnement’s mandate is to support Hydro-Québec in the installation of test benches to replace ash trees affected by emerald ash borer in various municipalities in Quebec. T² Environnement has conducted a literature review, participates in meetings with the Université du Québec à Montréal in order to target the tree species to be planted according to the desired functional traits and identify the species to be planted. T² Environnement also collaborates in the deployment of test benches in participating municipalities.
At the end of the mandate, a report has been produced to assess the work carried out and identify ways to improve the implementation of the test benches.
